People are living longer than ever before, and while proper brushing, flossing, and checkups help many of us keep our natural smiles for a lifetime, teeth don’t always last as long as we would like them to. Dental implants can restore your smile and your oral health if you’ve lost a tooth (or several teeth) due to injury or disease.
High Quality Dental Implants in Cincinnati, OH
An implant is a synthetic tooth root that is shaped like a post and surgically implanted into your jawbone. Implants are most commonly made of titanium, a metal that is extremely compatible with human bone and used often in hip and knee replacements. Once in place, your implant is then fitted with a replacement tooth. It is possible for the tooth to be permanently connected or detachable. Permanent teeth are more secure and feel more natural than temporary ones.
The ideal candidate for a dental implant procedure is a non-smoker who has good oral health, including enough bone in the jaw and healthy gums with no signs of gum disease.

Making a difference in our patients’ lives
SINGLE OR MULTIPLE IMPLANTS
Implants are extremely adaptable. If you simply need one tooth replaced, one implant and one replacement tooth will suffice. When a patient is missing numerous teeth in a row, a permanent bridge can be supported by a few strategically placed implants. Someone who has lost all of their teeth can benefit from a full bridge or denture that is permanently fixed in their mouth with only a few implants used as support.
ADVANTAGES OVER DENTURES OR BRIDGES
Traditional bridges and dentures are not secured to the bone, making them potentially unstable. It may be difficult to eat or smile confidently as a result. Implants look and feel more natural, and they also have a stronger biting force than your natural teeth. Additionally, implants do not compromise the health of the surrounding teeth because they do not rely on them for support. Bridges only last seven to ten years — even less after root canal therapy. On the other hand, implants can last a lifetime.
POST-TREATMENT CARE
Care for your replacement teeth the same way you should your natural teeth — with daily brushing and flossing and the same number of regular checkups. Just like your natural teeth, the better you take care of your replacements, the longer they will last.
IMPLANT SERVICES
Our implant services include:
Sinus Lift Augmentation:
Often, the sinuses will enlarge following the loss of the upper back teeth, making it impossible to place dental implants in the upper back areas of the mouth because the sinus is an air-filled space and dental implants need to be surrounded by solid bone. A sinus lift augmentation/graft is a surgical procedure that restores the sinus cavity to its original size and replaces the bone that has been lost as a result of the enlarged sinus. The new bone graft typically takes 9 to 12 months to heal before dental implants can be placed into the grafted bone.
Autogenous Bone Grafting:
Occasionally, the ideal areas for dental implants do not have enough bone to support the implants. In these cases, it is often necessary to “borrow” bone from another area of your mouth and graft it into the deficient area. Often, the area of choice is from the chin or in the back of the jaw where your wisdom teeth used to be.
Implant Site Development:
When a tooth needs to be removed due to infection, it is not uncommon to lose bone around the infected tooth. In these cases, bone grafting can be done at the same time the tooth is removed, making it possible to place a dental implant at a later date.
Computer-Enhanced Treatment Planning:
We have special software on our computer that allows us to evaluate your dental CT scan in three dimensions for bone quality, bone quantity, and bone location, enabling the best possible placement of your dental implants. This also allows us to work closely with your restorative dentist to ensure an ideal result.
Implant Maintenance:
Once your dental implant restoration is completed, it is important to keep the area clean and free from infection. Dental implants can accumulate plaque and tartar just like your natural teeth can. Whether you have just one tooth replaced by an implant or several, a professional cleaning schedule will be necessary to keep your implants healthy. The time between professional cleanings will be determined by your individual needs.
