What is Sedation Dentistry?
If you get anxious about going to the dentist, sedation dentistry can help. It’s a safe and effective way to keep you calm and relaxed while Dr. Andrew Bartish and his team are taking care of your dental needs. With sedation, you’ll feel perfectly at ease during treatment. You’ll still be able to answer questions and follow instructions, and you’ll have very little if any recollection of the procedure once it’s over.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sedation options does Velle Dental offer?
We offer nitrous oxide, which is the lightest option and wears off quickly after your appointment, and oral sedation, which is a prescription pill taken before your visit that produces a deeper state of relaxation. Both are safe, both are well-tolerated, and both can make a significant difference for patients who feel anxious about dental care.
Is sedation dentistry safe?
Yes, when administered by trained professionals. We review your full medical history, current medications, and health conditions before recommending any sedation. Your comfort and safety are monitored throughout the appointment. Sedation is also a practical tool for longer procedures, not just anxious patients, because it allows us to complete more in a single visit.
Will I be unconscious with oral sedation?
No. Oral sedation produces a deeply relaxed, drowsy state. Most patients remain conscious and can respond to questions, but many have little to no memory of the appointment afterward. You will need someone to drive you home, and we will give you clear instructions for the day of and the day after.
What if I am embarrassed about being anxious at the dentist?
Please do not be. Dental anxiety is extremely common and we hear it from patients regularly. Our job is to make your care as comfortable as possible, not to judge your history with it. Tell us what has been difficult in the past and we will work from there.
