Latest Dental Innovations: Insights from Recent Journal Articles

Staying updated with the latest advancements in dental care is crucial for maintaining optimal oral health. At Velle Dental, Dr. Bartish is committed to providing patients with cutting-edge treatments and information, guided by the latest research in the field. In this article, we delve into recent findings from dental journals that are shaping the future of dental care.

Breakthroughs in Minimally Invasive Dentistry

Recent articles highlight the growing trend towards minimally invasive dentistry. This approach focuses on preserving as much of the natural tooth structure as possible. Techniques such as air abrasion and laser dentistry are becoming more prevalent, offering patients less discomfort and faster recovery times. Dr. Bartish at Velle Dental is at the forefront of implementing these techniques to enhance patient care.

Advancements in Dental Materials

The development of new dental materials is another exciting area of research. Recent studies emphasize the use of biocompatible materials that not only restore function but also promote natural healing processes. These materials, including advanced composites and ceramics, are now available at Velle Dental, ensuring that patients receive durable and aesthetically pleasing restorations.

The Role of Bioceramics

Bioceramics are gaining attention for their ability to integrate seamlessly with natural tooth structures. This innovation reduces sensitivity and enhances the longevity of dental work. Dr. Bartish is particularly interested in how bioceramics can improve outcomes for root canal treatments and other restorative procedures.

Digital Dentistry: The Future is Now

Digital dentistry continues to revolutionize the field with innovations such as 3D printing and CAD/CAM technology. These advancements enable precise treatment planning and execution, reducing the need for multiple visits and improving the overall patient experience. At Velle Dental, Dr. Bartish utilizes these technologies to provide patients with efficient and effective dental solutions.

Benefits of 3D Printing

3D printing is transforming the way dental prosthetics are made. From crowns to dentures, the precision and customization capabilities of 3D printing ensure a perfect fit and natural appearance. Velle Dental is proud to offer this state-of-the-art service to enhance patient outcomes.

5 Things I Would NEVER Do As A Dentist

We all have habits that we need to break. Unfortunately, some habits or poor oral health choices can have severe and lasting consequences for your teeth. I recently had the opportunity to share 5 things I would never do as a dentist on my social media pages. I think this information is so important that I wanted to share it with you as well, in case you missed the posts. Click above to watch the short video and learn more.

5 Things I Would Never Do As a Dentist

From time to time, I see patients who have made a poor choice that has led to a problem with their oral health. I wanted to share the 5 things I would never do as a dentist:

1. Never Use Teeth As A Tool

  • If you need to open something quickly, it can be tempting to use your teeth as a tool to open the package. This is a horrible idea and can damage your tooth enamel. Take the extra time to find a pair of scissors and open the package properly. You should also never open any type of bottle, including a beer bottle, with your teeth.

2. No Activated Charcoal

  • While using activated charcoal products may lead to whiter teeth, they are too abrasive for your teeth. You will damage your tooth enamel and be left with extremely sensitive teeth.

3. No DIY Dentistry

  • If you are looking to straighten your teeth, please visit a professional who will regularly evaluate your progress. Programs such as Smile Direct Club and other direct-to-consumer products are not effective, can be harmful to your oral health, and are a waste of your hard-earned money.

4. Don’t Miss Cleaning Appointments

  • Routine dental care is a must to ensure that you have excellent oral health throughout your lifetime. It is also especially important not to ignore an obvious problem with your teeth, gums, or mouth.

5. No Whitening Toothpaste

  • These products really don’t do anything effective for your teeth. If you are interested in whitening your teeth, spend the money on professional treatments. I offer a number of whitening treatments that will offer beautiful and lasting results.

If you have any questions about anything mentioned above, or you need to schedule an appointment for an oral hygiene examination or recommended treatment, be sure to contact my office located in Cincinnati, OH, and a member of my team will be happy to help!

Spring Cleaning Your Teeth – The Importance Of Regular Dental Care https://velledental.com/spring-cleaning-your-teeth-the-importance-of-regular-dental-care/ Sat, 15 Apr 2023 10:00:40 +0000 https://velledental.com/?p=466 Although Cincinnati had one of the warmest winters to date, we could not be happier that spring has arrived. Many people love the spring because they take advantage of the popular term “spring cleaning” and make an attempt to refresh the inside and outside of their home. Several in-depth and lengthy cleaning and organization tasks are added to the list to be sure that your home is ready to enjoy this summer. Your home is not the only area in your life that can benefit from “spring cleaning”. Your teeth can benefit as well. Regular dental care is a must to ensure that your oral health is in the best possible shape.

Spring Cleaning Your Teeth – The Importance Of Regular Dental Care

Although Cincinnati had one of the warmest winters to date, we could not be happier that spring has arrived.

Importance of Regular Oral Hygiene Examinations

Regular dental visits are a necessity. Even if you are diligent with your oral hygiene routine and have excellent oral health, regular visits to our office are a must. Similar to deep cleaning your house during “spring cleaning”, we thoroughly clean the teeth, removing any lingering plaque and bacteria from between the teeth, on the surface of the teeth, and along the gumline. We also inspect the teeth and mouth for signs of decay, gum disease, and oral cancer.

Be Proactive, Not Reactive

Unfortunately, some people are of the opinion that they only need to visit the dentist when they are experiencing a problem. That is the worst thing you can do! Avoiding routine dental care allows problems in the mouth to continue to progress and worsen. Dental problems do not heal on their own and will continue to worsen until you receive dental intervention. When regular dental care is a priority, we are able to be proactive, spot any problem areas in the mouth in the early stages, and treat the problem immediately before a more involved treatment is needed.

If it has been some time since your last oral hygiene examination and cleaning, we would love to see you! As mentioned above, now is a great time to schedule your appointment so you can enjoy the upcoming summer worry free! Be sure to contact our office, which is located in Cincinnati, OH, to schedule an appointment. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
